About
Rebecca J Spence is a contemporary New Zealand landscape artist based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. She paints the places she moves through every day - the Avon winding out of the city, the gardens at Mona Vale, the bays and summit roads of Banks Peninsula.
The work begins at the edges of the day: dusk settling over the river, late afternoon on Park Terrace, the walk home after dark. In oil, she builds quiet, atmospheric surfaces where bridges, tree masses and streetlights hold the last of the light.
She lives and works in Christchurch, New Zealand, and is represented by The Central, Christchurch.
